Youtube Stars Meetup
Last October, we were lucky enough to attend Youtube Stars’ Edward Avila and Joan Kim’s meetup in South Korea. My sister, Juvy of Plump Cheeks, are avid followers of the two, so when they announced their meetup, we got so excited because it aligned with our travel dates!
We were so worried that the meetup will not push through because of the rain. Yes, it rained on that day, and it was so cold, the temperature went down to 10°C. It’s a good thing that I came prepared and still wore thermal wear. Autumn in South Korea can become very cold.
We arrived at Hyehwa Station Exit 2 at 1:40PM. We decided to go a little early because we didn’t want to miss them. There was already a gathering of people at Exit 2, but we weren’t sure if they were there to meet Eddy and Joan, so we decided to head down the subway and wait there for a bit because it was super cold outside. At around 2PM, we headed out Exit 2, and my sister recognized one of Eddy’s acquaintances, so she chatted with him for a bit.
Finally Seeing Them!
When the two of them emerged from Exit 2, we all got very excited! I didn’t know that Eddy was going to broadcast live at Afreeca TV during the meetup, but I was glad I wore good clothes that day. He did compliment me on my ensemble. Eddy said, “Girl, I see you. I see you!” If you wish to see our short stint during their live feed on Afreeca TV, scroll to 23 minutes!
It was my first time to meet a Youtube star. I didn’t expect to fangirl over Eddy and Joan. They were so warm and kind in person, but I already know that they are nice people, based on their videos and how they interact with the people who show up in their vlogs. Their videos inspire me to start my own, but I’m not yet sure if I can commit to it. Maybe in the future!
